Child Centric Seating

Child Centric Seating

The primary goal for this project was to explore child-centric automotive seating opportunities with a primary focus on the CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) market. The results of this project were designed to inspire internal development teams through exploration of seating and vehicle interior product opportunities. This was an intensely focused effort over a short period of time. We researched this topic from several perspectives. We investigated child safety, child seating and related consumer products (storage, activities, convenience, etc.). We summarized significant categories of research and identified discoveries accordingly. Utilizing insights garnered from our research, we visualized product opportunities through rough ideation sketches. There were three key assumptions throughout this effort.

  1. Children would occupy the seating area 80% of the time, with other user/needs at 20%
  2. The Nissan Murano was selected as the icon to best represent the CUV segment
  3. Although ideas were based on seating systems, some solutions affected other zones
