To keep our creative skills honed, we often explore our own initiatives. In this case study, we asked ourselves a simple question. What would a typical higher education classroom look like if we modeled these learning spaces after an example in nature? So we used the relationship between honey bees and flowers as a metaphor to represent the relationship between teachers and students in the classroom environment. We built our analogy out a little further and focused on four key areas: Behaviors, Networks, Relationships and Reciprocation. We also set up a couple classroom environment scenarios. This provides us a context for which to design within. Asking big questions and establishing constraints can lead to some pretty interesting results.
